It is perfect for sunbathers, swimming, and picnicking. Access is limited to foot or bicycle traffic only, no public parking is available.

Commons Beach Park

Four-acre park located in downtown Tahoe City, on the shores of Lake Tahoe.

Popular for sunbathing, swimming, and picnicking, it includes two children's playgrounds located within a large lakefront lawn area. Rest Rooms & BBQ Grills also available.

Beaches

East Shore
Parking is available in some lots, and in some roadside spots, along Hwy 28 between Hwy 50 and Sand Harbor. Once parked, there are steep, sandy hikes to mostly-boulder beaches. Generally, there are no facilities, so bring trash bags to haul out what you haul in. Do not park where no parking signs exist - you will be towed immediately.
Sand Harbor -- (Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park) Nevada Division of State Parks. Picnic facilities, restrooms, a huge sand beach and boulders for climbing. Parking $6 per car, boat launching (at a separate entrance) is also $8, and anchoring in the harbor is $6. Annual day use/boating permits are available, $75.

West Shore
Kaspian Recreation Area -- South of Sunnyside on State Route 89. Campsites across highway, rest rooms, picnic facilities, BBQ.
William Kent Campground -- Near Sunnyside on State Route 89. Rocky beach with room for sunbathing, rest rooms, picnic.
Sugar Pine Point State Park -- 1 mile south of Tahoma on Hwy. 89. More lake-edge than beach. Nature trails, pier, rest rooms, picnic facilities, historic Ehrman Mansion. Parking fee. (800) 444-7275.
Meeks Bay -- On Hwy. 89, 10 miles south of Tahoe City, adjacent to Meeks Bay Campground. White sand beach, boat launch, day use fee, rest rooms, picnic facilities.
D.L. Bliss State Park -- On Hwy. 89 between Meeks Bay and Emerald Bay, large camping area, reservations a must, beach, picnic tables, fire pits. Day-use parking fee, beach fee, and other use fees. (800) 444-7275.

Emerald Bay Beach: -- Limited parking, accessible only by one-mile, steep, sandy hike from parking lot on Hwy. 89 or by trail from Bliss Park, about 4 miles. Picnic tables, historic Vikingsholm Castle, views of the only island in Lake Tahoe.

North Shore Incline Village
Ski Beach -- Private for Incline residents, temporary renters or homeowner's association. Boat ramp, barbecue areas, kids climbing structures, slides and swings and volleyball courts.
