Anaheim CA Vacation Guide

Anaheim California is an incredible place to visit and create a lifetime worth of memories almost in one afternoon.  Vacation Rentals near Disneyland are easy to find. The area is jam packed with family fun activities that include the famous, the not so famous, and out of the way attractions that are hidden gems.  Anaheim is located just south of Los Angeles California in Orange County.  The area has been made famous recently by a teen centered television show based in Laguna Hills, a suburb a stone's throw from Anaheim.  The show may have popped the area up a notch on the average traveler’s radar, but Anaheim is best known for family fun theme parks.

Anaheim is home to Disneyland, not to be confused with Disneyworld in Florida. Disneyland was Walt Disney's first experiment into an interactive theme park environment and is a vacation destination for millions of visitors each year.  Disneyland is home to all of the famous Disney characters, and an adventure at the theme park can consume several days.  Don't forget to schedule a character breakfast to dine with one of the famous denizen's of the park, and hang around after dark for a spectacular fireworks display that will keep tired little eyes open in wide eyed wonder.

DisneylandMore adventurous families should head over to Disney's California Adventure theme Park for more action oriented rides, including the Soarin Over California ride, and the original Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.  This park also includes characters based on Monster's Inc, with a funny show kids will love.

If you're on a family vacation, don't forget Knott's Berry Farm Theme Park.  What started as a strawberry stand selling berries and jam on the side of the road evolved into a family fun park that rivals Disney.  Although not quite as expansive as the more famous park, Knott's Berry has some great thrill rides, and a ton of fun for kids, with Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang the highlighted characters.  Plus, visitors can still get great jam and jelly with their visit.

Kids can break out their Christmas wish list at the Hobby City Doll and Toy Museum as they wonder through the exhibits.  This one may be more for mom and dad to time travel back to their own childhood and reminisce about holiday's past as each toy and game sparks a memory.

If you like a little more activity, trek over to the Rock City Climbing Center to tie off and practice scaling a rock face.  With levels from beginner to advanced (watch the more experienced climbers crawl across the ceiling like spiders!) there's a climb for every member of the family.  Head over to Yorba Regional Park for the kids to burn off some energy while running, romping and stomping.

Once the appetite is stoked up, Anaheim has dozens of chain restaurants to choose from if any of the Theme park eateries just won't do.  For an approach to eat like a local, try Rosine's Mediterranean Cafe, or Hidden Cafe.  If Mexican Food is on your mind, and who can't get enough of fresh hot chips and salsa, visit Ricardo's Mexican Cafe.

DisneylandOf course Anaheim can be a place for lovers too.  Reconnect with your special someone by showing them the kid in you at a theme park during the day, then make reservations at Prime Cut Cafe & Wine Bar for a bottle of red and a thick cut of premium beef.  Tell them how beautiful they are, how they make you feel, then drive over to Seal Beach for a hand in hand stroll down their quaint Main Street and a sandy meander down the beautiful beach.

Anaheim California is a wonderful place to visit and a great place to build a scrapbook full of family fun memories.
